Sifu Michael Parrella
Title:
Sifu (See-Foo)
Kung-Fu
and Kickboxing Instructor
28 years

Master Instructor, Sifu Michael Parrella is
a 6th Degree Black Belt in Kung-Fu and one of the top disciples in the United States, of
Grandmaster Chan Tai-San. He is Grandmaster Chan’s official representative and the inheritor of his Choy Lay Fut Style
(Hung Sing and Clear Cloud Temple versions)
Sifu Parrella began his training at 14-years old while growing up in Queens, New York. He first trained the Japanese martial art, Aiki-jitsu. After two years of training, he began to learn several styles of Kung-Fu from different Sifu, training in Wing Chun, Hung Ga, Monkey Style and Northern Shaolin. A few years later, he was introduced to and began training with one of the greatest martial artists in history, Grandmaster Chan Tai-San.
After many years of diligent training with Grandmaster Chan, Sifu Parrella was made his “disciple” and was adopted by the Grandmaster in a formal ceremony called “Bai-See.” Sifu is also the top student of Grandmaster Chan in the Choy Lay Fut style and has been named it’s “successor.” Grandmaster Chan had taught Sifu Parrella many styles. His primary curriculum for him was Choy Lay Fut and the Lama Style. Sifu Parrella did learn
additional styles that were chosen for him by his teacher, such as White Eyebrow (Bok Mei), Mok Ga (Mok Family Style), Hou Kuyhn (Monkey Style) along with several others. Although he does teach certain select forms from these styles, he only considers himself an authority on Grandmaster Chan's Choy Lay Fut and Lama Pai styles.
Sifu Parrella has become one of the most famous traditional Kung-Fu artists of his generation. With a wealth of kung-fu knowledge lost to almost all students and instructors alike, he has dedicated his life to the promotion of authentic Chinese Kung-Fu. “Kung-Fu training has made me who and what I am today. Although it is a different experience for each student, I believe that there is no better way to bring out a persons full potential than with Kung-Fu. Kung-Fu has taught me to overcome any adversity in my life and to never give up. I hope to share these life-altering characteristics will all my students.”
Sifu Parrella has competed in dozens of martial arts tournaments all over the country, winning numerous trophies and awards. He is a nationally recognized public speaker on the business of martial arts schools, has demonstrated his Kung-Fu at Master’s Demonstrations, from New York’s Chinatown to as far as San Francisco, California and even in Hong Kong. Since 1994 his schools have been listed in the “Top 100 Martial Arts Schools in North America” and the "Top 200 Schools in North America." He has trained all types of people, from professional athletes to disabled children and is an expert on the psychology of success. “Sifu” as he is called by students and parents alike, has a knack for bringing out the best in all his students.

His persistence and hard work at the
Center had eventually caught the eye of Sifu Parrella who
soon began to prepare and train Cassidy to become an
